The Space

Treehaus is driven by a three-fold vision to provide workspace, facilitate shared resources, and offer training and workshops to small businesses and organizations.

Treehaus Collaborative Workspace was incorporated as a non-profit organization in June of 2010 and opened its doors July 1st, 2010 at 260 King Street East in Downtown Kitchener. We moved to our current location at the entrance to Victoria Park July 1st, 2012.

One of Treehaus’ greatest assets is the diversity of our residents. Everyone from consultants and single person businesses to non-profit organizations, start-ups, and telecommuters make their home at Treehaus. We have residents that work here one day a month right up to full-time. Since opening, we have been home to more than 63 companies, individuals and organizations.

Treehaus is run by a volunteer Board of Directors and offers flexible office space within a curated community.

In addition to offering workspace, Treehaus offers programs and events to help you learnconnect with others or just enjoy some social time.

ABOUT COWORKING:

“Co-working is the social gathering of a group of people, who are still working independently, but who share values, and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with talented people in the same space.”

From Toronto to Seattle to Berlin to Bangkok, co-working spaces are bringing together talented entrepreneurs to share resources and facilitate collaboration. The need for co-working spaces stems from the growing number of people leaving the workforce and opting to be a freelancer or home-based business owner. This represents a fundamental shift in how people work.

Technology allows people to work effectively from any location. The problem with working from home is that many people need the kind of social interaction that the workplace provides, making the popularity of coworking spaces sky-rocket in recent years.

While there are many models of shared spaces, true coworking is defined by the social and community aspects of the space.
